Second Marriage
Derek Dillon believes that Hannah Barbara Barlow remarried after the death of first husband, Henry Devis, as per an email to Brian of nzolivers.com on 16 March 2018:
“I came across your comprehensive site (nzolivers) and thought I should send you the attached pages I had copied while visiting some cousins about 30 years ago in England from a Bible that has been passed down thru Devis/Gamble/Gibson and into my Dillon families. It includes Hannah Barlow's family after she married David Gibson when Henry Devis died. Hope you find this extra information helpful in your task”.

In a subsequent email, 19 March 2018, Derek Dillon presented a tree diagram showing the relationship and lineage down to himself.

Date of birth confirmed, “Hannah Barbra Devis born March 6th 1759” from Image 3 of the Devis Family Bible sent by Derek Dillon in an email dated 16 March 2018. Derek had copied the Bible pages, while visiting some cousins in England circa 1988. The Bible had been passed down through the Devis, Gibson and Dillon families.

Image 2 of the above transcript reads, “Gift of Mrs Ann Devis”. Linda Burge in an email dated 3 July 2018 says, “She was probably the sister of Arthur William Devis the artist. Ann and her sister Ellin didn’t marry but called themselves Mrs as they did in those days”.

Brian of nzolivers wondered if the Ann Devis was instead the daughter of Henry Devis and Elizabeth Willis. Elizabeth Willis was the daughter of John Willis (b. ca1700). There is initial mention of, "John Willis father of Edward Willis" and maybe a closer connection? (Edward was a son with John’s second wife Jane Haywood).

However, Linda Burge writes in a subsequent email of 4 July 2018 that, “Anne, daughter of Henry Devis and Elizabeth Willis was born 1748 and we think died before 1777 so would be too early for her. Ann, sister of Arthur William Devis was born 1766 and died 1838”.

Different place of death (to what Brian of nzolivers had being Wandsworth, London) from Margaret Sweeney in message dated 5 September 2020:
“…she [Hannah Barbara Gibson nee Barlow] was on a visit to Mr Sharpe [brother-in-law, sister Ann’s husband] of Shipton when she died. Simon Sharpe was living in Shipton when he died the following month”.
Margaret is the x3-great granddaughter of Sidney Bell Devis (b.1816). Brian of nzolivers.com is a x3-great grandson of Emma Frances Devis (b.1814), sister of Sidney Bell Devis.
